Eagles young star Oscar Allen has recommitted to the club, signing a three-year contract extension to keep him at West Coast.

The 22-year-old was selected with pick #21 in the 2017 draft and has played 48 games since his senior debut in 2018.

Allen has played 10 games so far in 2021 for a total of 20 goals, leaving him third in the club's overall goal-kicking tally behind Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy.

Drafted as a versatile tall, Allen has been compared to St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt by past coaches for his size and versatility.

The 193cm Perth-born product has played both key forward and defensive roles in his career so far, while also offering support to Nic Naitanui in the ruck.

In a club statement posted on the Eagles' website, Allen said he was glad to be staying at West Coast.

“It is great for me to have the security of a contract extension,” Allen said, per the club website.

“I love the club and the playing group and want to be a part of what we aim to achieve in both the short and medium term. It means I can now fully concentrate on footy.

“Personally, to be able to tap into the knowledge of blokes like Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling and Jeremy McGovern has been great. I look forward to playing more football with them and learning even more."

Reports suggested that at least three rival clubs were chasing Allen's signature, with one reportedly offering up to $850,000 a season.

The three-year deal ties Allen to the club until the end of 2025, where he will then qualify as a free agent.
