Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has called on the AFL to give the Gold Coast Suns a Friday night game.

The Suns have been terrific in their last two weeks, picking up two big wins led by number one draft pick Matt Rowell.

The Suns have never played a Friday night game since their inception in 2011.

With the 2020 fixture being released in four week blocks there is a tremendous opportunity for the Suns to feature given their recent results.

They're in as good a patch of form as anyone at the moment and Lloyd is keen to see what will happen if and when they hit the prime time.

“I think they’ve breathed life into this competition. A competition that if they weren’t there you’d go, 'Yeah, it’s been an okay season', but the Suns have put excitement in,” he told Sportsday.

“So much so that I saw someone say put them on a Friday night.

“I would have laughed at that two weeks ago. I would love the next round that comes out for the Gold Coast Suns to play a big team on a Friday night.
