North Melbourne key forward Ben Brown has been rewarded for his career best season, signing a two-year contract extension.

Brown, who was already contracted for next year, will now be a Roo until at least 2020.

The 24-year-old finished fourth in this year's Coleman Medal race, booting 63 goals, taking his tally 154 in 77 games.

Brown said he can't wait to continue with the club that gave him his chance as a 21-year-old in 2013 after being overlooked in the draft in previous years.

"North was really keen to keep me on and I was really keen to stay. There was a lot of external noise but I never really considered (leaving). I'm really happy at North Melbourne and I'm really looking forward to staying around for a few more years," Brown said.

"It's a really exciting time for us. We've got young kids coming through and the next couple of years I think we should really be pushing up the ladder.

"I'm really looking forward to being part of that."
