Port Adelaide have been forced into changing their squad for Saturday's matchup with Essendon after forward Junuir Rioli didn't make the trip to Melbourne due to personal reasons.

The club confirmed on Friday evening that Rioli won't appear against the Bombers and was not part of the playing group that flew into Victoria.

Young utility Josh Sinn has come into Ken Hinkley's 26-man squad, which will be finalised an hour prior to the bounce for the match at the MCG.

On Thursday Rioli was named to return for the Power after being a late out in Round 14 due to illness, where he was placed by Mid-Season Draft recruit Quinton Narkle.

Narkle was omitted at selection this week alongside Sinn and was named as an emergency for Round 16 with Jase Burgoyne, Dante Visentini and Tom Jonas for the match.

Port Adelaide will face Essendon at the MCG on Saturday night at 7:40pm (AEST) and will name their final team and tactical sub an hour prior.
