Tarryn Thomas is reportedly still not facing a certain future at North Melbourne.
Thomas remains contracted for another two years at Arden Street, but managed just ten games this season, averaging 12.9 disposals, 2.8 tackles and 2.7 clearances.
The 22-year-old has spent all four seasons of his AFL career as a Kangaroo, having been drafted with pick 8 in the 2018 national draft by the club. Since making his debut in 2019, the young Roo has gone on to play 57 games, including 21 in a career best 2021 campaign.
However, after a season of turmoil, that resulted in the appointment of new senior coach Alastair Clarkson, with SEN’s Sam Edmund reporting that Thomas is one to keep an eye on in the trade period as he considers heading elsewhere.
“There’s just one other player I want to mention and it’s Tarryn Thomas. Perhaps just one to keep an eye on,” Edmund said.
“I know we reported recently he was gettable a couple of months ago and Gold Coast were interested and they’d gone a fair way down the track, there’d been discussions about him being traded up there.
“As we said though, I’d close the door on the Suns. But there are just some murmurings that there could still be a twist here. He’s contracted for two more years, I’m just not sure how happy he is there and whether he might act upon those feelings in this trade period.
“He might not, but he might, so just a watch on Tarryn Thomas at the Kangaroos.”
While Thomas remains contracted, the Kangaroos may be willing to facilitate a trade as they eye their list of targets heading into October's trade period. Tanner Bruhn tops their list of potential recruits, though they will be forced to compete with rival Victorian clubs for his signature, per Edmund.
Elsewhere at the Roos, Fremantle's Griffin Logue looms as a potential off-season addition, while veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein is reportedly a chance to stay a Roo into 2023.
“Tanner Bruhn, wanted by Hawthorn, Kangaroos are really keen, Geelong are too,” Edmund said.
“They’re also in the race for (Docker) Griffin Logue, Jason Horne-Francis locked in for next year, Todd Goldstein soon to be – the specifics of that one being worked out now with everything pointing to him staying.”
