The Footy Show's Sam Newman and Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield have continued their war of words after last week's verbal stoush.
Newman started Thursday night's show by apologising to Jenner for his insensitive remarks, but then went on to hit back at Dangerfield.
โI took a bit of a belting from Pat Dangerfield. Now Pat had a crack at me on the radio. Join the queue if you want to have a go at me. I think it stops at Ballarat,โ Newman said during Thursday night's telecast.
โPat, please, if youโre going to have a go at me for not understanding the era of political correctness we live in, donโt call me old. I donโt mind if you call me old but that is an ageist comment and it reflects badly on people in the workforce who are my age.
โYou said the only person you watch the show for is this woman here (Maddern). That is sexist in itself.
โLetโs be consistent, instead of coming on here like a perfume dwarf and thinking that if you act like a ventriloquistโs dummy, that will cut the mustard here, it wonโt.โ
The 2016 Brownlow Medallist didn't take long to fire back on Friday morning, and suggested Newman should have expected some outrage over his comments.
โIf youโre in the media, you know what, get your hand off it, youโre going to cop a whack at different stages,โ Dangerfield said on KIIS FM on Friday.
โHow you do things and how you interact and how you run your own show ... people are going to comment on it, people are going to disagree with it, not everyone is going to agree with your opinion.
โSo letโs not be so precious about how we are perceived.
โI find it really funny that some people all of a sudden are getting incredibly defensive when their acts can destroy footballersโ careers if itโs topical at the time.
โIโm in that boat of heโs a wonderful man. Heโs dropped me back at the hotel where I was staying numerous times, probably half a dozen times.
โSo heโs a wonderful person but if youโre going to be on TV, if youโre going to have opinions on things then youโve got to cop what comes with that.โ
