Geelong's Steven Motlop's future has been a hot topic in recent weeks, however the out-of-contract forward won't be rushed when it comes to making a decision on his future.

Motlop returned to Geelong's side in their win against Richmond on Saturday and while he turned in a strong performance, he remained silent when asked about his future beyond 2017.

"I haven't really thought about it, to be honest," Motlop told Channel Nine on Monday night.

"I haven't spoken to my manager about it at all. I'm just trying to worry about week by week as it is."

While he also mentioned that he "loves the club" and was keen to stay at the Cattery, Geelong CEO Brian Cook had some interesting things to say when asked about the 26-year-old on Saturday afternoon.

Motlop will be a restricted free agent at season's end, with Cook refusing to rule out a possible trade for the livewire.

"There might be an arrangement out there that would suit both our requirements and theirs," Cook said on Melbourne radio.

"But if it doesn't, we'll keep him."

Motlop was put up for trade at the end of last season with the club failing to come to agreement with interested parties.

His performance on Saturday pleased coach Chris Scott, who was particularly impressed by Motlop's pressure around the ground.

"They [the crowd] they got behind him [Motlop]," Scott told Fox Footy's AFL360 on Monday night.

"It's amazing how your supporters get behind players that really pressure early in games and kind of set the scene. As much as anyone, he did set the scene for the players.

"There was that bump on Houli – questionable if that was the right thing to do in the circumstances – but he bounced up and chased and pressured again."
