Premiership favourites Greater Western Sydney has extended contract of coach Leon Cameron for a further two years, keeping the 44-year-old at the club until at least 2020.

The Giants have also re-signed football manager, Wayne Campbell until 2020.

"The players are absolutely delighted with the news," GWS CEO Dave Matthews said.

“Leon is absolutely the right man to lead our team right now and into the future.

“We had no hesitation in extending Leon’s contract and he had no hesitation in accepting that extension. As a quality person and clearly a quality coach, Leon is held in extremely high esteem at the club and is a hugely respected member of the broader Giants family.

“Since taking over the reins from Kevin Sheedy at the end of 2013, he has taken our club from strength to strength, including our maiden finals appearance last year.

“He’s had challenges thrown at him this season but has continued to take the club forward and further put his stamp on what is a brilliant culture amongst our players and staff alike. He sets an outstanding example every day, across all areas of our organisation.”

Cameron said he is thrilled to be able to lead the team into what he hopes is a highly successful period.

“It’s a privilege to be the Head Coach of such a committed, hard working group of players. This club is like family to us and I’m privileged to lead a fantastic group of players and coaches with an incredible support team around me," Cameron said.

“We have built a strong club, a club I’m proud to be part of long-term. We are all committed to continued growth and improvement and consistently putting ourselves in a position for success.”

Cameron has coached the Giants in 82 games, winning 43, losing 37 and drawing two.
