Luke Davies-Uniacke has been urged to pick up the phone in the off-season and call a rival star in a bid to make the jump to the next level.

Davies-Uniacke has had himself an impressive season despite the Kangaroos struggles. In his fourth season, the young Roo has strung together 20.4 disposals and 3.8 clearances through 12 games played in 2021.

After a monster game helped the Roos find their second win of the season against the struggling Suns, Davies-Uniacke has started to cement himself as one of the game's future stars.

An impressive 25 disposals (19 contested) included nine intercept possessions, nine score involvements, five clearances and a goal led the way for the Kangaroos in a much-needed win.

OPINION: Why the top eight is far from set

As LDU looks to take his game to the next level, Port Adelaide legend Kane Cornes has encouraged the 22-year-old to pick up the phone and pick the brain of Melbourne star Christian Petracca.

"It was career days for both (Davies-Uniacke and Cameron Zurhaar)… Career performances from both of them" Cornes said on AFL's The Round So Far.

"I think both can get fitter absolutely I do, Davies-Uniacke often starts games exceptionally well and then drifts out."

"I think he's got work to do on his tank, not too dissimilar to Christian Petracca. I'd be having a phone call with him if I was Luke, finding out what he's done to be one of the best players in the competition. Because he can be that.

He has the attributes to do what Christian Petracca is doing...North fans should be excited."

North Melbourne Premiership player David King has agreed with Cornes, believing that Davies-Uniacke is at a similar stage of his career as the Melbourne bull was before he took his massive leap.

“I wonder where Davies-Uniacke is going to go as a player." King said on SEN Breakfast.

"I can’t remember who said it, but someone made the point that he should be ringing Christian Petracca and ask him what the steps were to becoming the physical specimen that he is now, because LDU is at that point in his career where the penny dropped for Petracca,”

“To be the absolute best he probably has to get that style of pre-season under his belt. It’s there. You can see it."

King has been bullish about his former side this year, emphasising his excitement of the young talent coach David Noble has been able to develop throughout the year.

“This is why I’m not down on the year. Forget the win-loss record. Jy Simpkin, LDU, Tom Powell, Will Phillips. These players are going to take them places," said King.
