Is it unfair that the Western Australian clubs aren't allowed to train in bigger groups now that the state permits them to?

WA's government recently eased social distancing laws to now allow maximum gatherings of 10 people, which could permit players from Fremantle and West Coast to increase their training groups.

However,ย The Herald Sun reported that the AFL has disallowed the WA teams to train in bigger groups after Victorian clubs complained it was an "unfair advantage."

Kane Cornes have ripped the AFL over such reports, labelling the league "VFL-centric."

โ€œCan you believe this story?โ€ Corns toldย SEN SA Breakfast.

โ€œGod forbid WA clubs get an unfair advantage. These are the guys that travel four hours on a plane every second week while Jack Riewoldt sleeps in his bed for 14 weeks of the season playing games at the MCG.

โ€œThis is the same Victorian club who for seven weeks in a row did not leave the MCG in the lead up to the finals.

โ€œThis is like saying the weather is better in Perth and it rains in Melbourne so Western Australia players canโ€™t kick the footy in the sun because itโ€™s raining in Victoria.

โ€œThis is an absolute joke โ€“ it just underlines how VFL-centric the AFL still are.

โ€œItโ€™s just the way the cookie crumbles, if youโ€™re allowed to kick the footy in groups of 10 in Perth, well good luck to them โ€“ thatโ€™s the law.

โ€œI couldnโ€™t believe the AFL reacted to the request from the Victorian clubs.โ€
