Collingwood CEO Gary Pert has reportedly spoken to the playing group on Tuesday morning regarding Nathan Buckley's future, and told the players they would not make a decision on Buckley until after the season.

The Hearld Sun believe Pert addressed the players in a meeting at the Holden Centre, and suggested the under-fire coach would at least see out the end of the season.

After constant speculation surrounding the Buckley's future at the Pies, there were rumours the former captain could have resigned before season's end to take pressure off the Pies, but Pert reassured the playing group that was not going to happen.

Collingwood's loss to Essendon on Saturday all but ruled them out of the finals race for 2017, as they currently sit three wins outside a finals position.

The Pies have won just five games all season and sit in 15th place on the ladder, ahead of a tough game against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Current captain Scott Pendlebury has been joined by teammates Adam Treloar and Taylor Adams in recent weeks in throwing their support behind Buckley, as the players have continued to state he is the right man for the job.

Buckley will address the media on Tuesday as per his usual weekly media commitments.
