Gaelic football star Cathal McShane is considering a move to the AFL, reports AFL.com.au's Marc McGowan.

The Irish power forward caught the eyes of AFL recruiters last season in a breakout campaign for Tyrone where he received All-Star honours as the competition's leading scorer and Player of the Year contender.

Essendon's Conor McKenna also hails from the Tyrone county.

One scout told AFL.com.au that McShane could play centre half-forward in the AFL.

Reports emerged that the 24-year old was on the verge of signing a two-year deal with Brisbane, however, AFL.com.au understands this is incorrect.

He will reportedly fly out to Australia in January to train with the Crows, who can sign him as a Category B rookie for the 2020 season.

McShane's likely move away from Tyrone disappointed club manager Mickey Hartey.

"He (McShane) has been wooed by some people in the AFL," Harte told the BBC.

"I think he's (going) out there for a few days to experience what that might be like.

"There has been no final decision yet on whether he's going to go or whether he will stay with us but, at the moment, he's certainly considering that move."
