Gold Coast Suns midfielder Hugh Greenwood has revealed the details about the time he came face-to-face with basketball legend Michael Jordan.

Before making his AFL debut, Greenwood was a gun basketballer at the University of New Mexico.

Interest in Jordan has peaked following the the release of "The Last Dance", a documentary chronicling his last season with the Chicago Bulls.

Speaking on SEN SA, Greenwood spoke of the moment he shook hands with "His Airness"

“(I was) still a bit young during his time… I followed him from my parents having a love for basketball,” Greenwood revealed on SEN.

“I actually got to meet him when I was 15, 16. I played an international All-Stars game in New York and it was his game. It was pretty surreal. It was hosted by Jordan brand. We played at Madison Square garden.

“He was there, shook his hand, took a photo. It’s a bit of a blur now, I look back on it ‘I met Michael Jordan’. I’ve got the photo in my room, it was pretty wild to think about. It just felt like I was in a dream.

“I rushed in the room, made sure I sat next to him. He has this awe and a swagger.”
