The AFLW season is facing more fixture chaos with another upcoming game postponed due to Covid outbreaks within the playing group.

The upcoming Greater Western Sydney match against St Kilda has been called off due to rising cases in the GWS camp. The game, scheduled for Saturday February 5 at Henson Park, becomes just one of several games already postponed in the ten round AFLW season.

The Giants already were missing six players (Bec Privitelli, Katie Loynes, Pepa Randall, Chloe Dalton, Tait Mackrill and Georgia Garnett) for their Friday night win over the Bulldogs.

The Saints will be forced into a second straight week without playing a match after their Round 4 clash against West Coast was also postponed due to positive cases in the Eagles team. That clash, now slated as part of Round 5, has been scheduled for Tuesday February 8 at Trevor Barker Oval.

Going into the season under the cloud of rising Covid cases around the country, the AFL established that clubs would need to have at least 16 listed players and five train on players available for matches to proceed. The AFL confirmed that matches would only be cancelled if they couldn't be rescheduled later in the season.

The AFL hasn't confirmed when all postponed matches will take place but the league remains adamant that the season will be played in full, hoping to avoid the chaotic ending of the 2020 season.
