Greater Western Sydney were not only humbled to the tune of 36 points by Adelaide on Thursday night, but also suffered serious and potentially season ending injuries to key players Shane Mumford and Jeremy Cameron.
Cameron sat out the second half of the loss due to a hamstring injury, while Mumford suffered a foot and ankle injury, which despite playing out the game, hampered his influence on the contest.
The Giants are yet to officially announce the severity of the injuries, however, The Daily Telegraph reports the injuries to both players are on the serious end and may be season ending.
Cameron missed rounds 17,18, 20 and 21 due to a hamstring injury, however, his latest setback is in his opposite leg and is reportedly even more serious.
Mumford meanwhile returned home to Sydney on crutches following the match.
Dawson Simpson looms as the obvious replacement for Mumford if he misses the semi-final, while the Giants have several options to replace Cameron.
Steve Johnson, who was dropped for the loss to the Crows, performed well for the Giants' reserves in the scratch match against the Crows' reserves on Friday, while Tim Taranto,ย Will Setterfield and Tendai Mzungu will also come into consideration.
GWS face West Coast at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.
