Former Fremantle skipper Kara Antonio has called time on her AFLW career after seven seasons in the competition.

Antonio joined the Dockers ahead of the league's first-ever campaign as their inaugural captain, leading her side's goal-kicking in 2017 while also earning All-Australian honours.

The 30-year-old hangs up the boots after an injury-interrupted season seven, having suffered a hamstring injury in the pre-season and requiring subsequent surgery.

The versatile veteran will play her 47th and final game in purple on Saturday when the Dockers host Hawthorn at Fremantle Oval.

“When you get injured, the worst things probably go through your mind – whether you can keep going and get back,” Antonio said in a club announcement.

“The high performance and medical team have been incredible. To get me in a position to where I'm able to get back and play, I'm very grateful.

“To have my last farewell game and the last game of the season at home is pretty special.

“I've enjoyed every second of it, the highs and the lows.

“It's made me a better person, a better wife, a better leader, a better friend.

“I'm really looking forward to the week ahead, enjoying it – just getting out there one last time in the purple jumper on Saturday.

Saturday's farewell match for Antonio will commence at 4:10pm local time.
