Essendon midfielder Dylan Shiel is in some doubt to face West Coast on Saturday night as he continues to nurse a foot injury.
Shiel was named on Thursday night to make his return after being a late withdrawal from the Bombers' Dreamtime clash last week with the same ailment, having failed a fitness test in the lead-up to the match.
The club stated earlier this week they were "hopeful" Shiel would be cleared fit to face the Eagles in Round 11, with more testing to come in the days prior to this weekend's matchup.
Shiel did not travel to Perth with the rest of his teammates, sparking some concerns over the midfielder's playing chances. Speaking to 9 News,ย Bombers football boss Josh Mahoney said there's still a call to make on his selection.
"He's ready to go, we'll probably keep having a look at him," Mahoney said.
"He missed last week's game, so we'll assess him. He's named in our team at the moment but we'll still make a decision on him later on."
Essendon star Dylan Shiel is in serious doubt to play tomorrow night as he continues to battle a foot complaint.
But it's better news for coach Brad Scott, joining the team in Perth after a week away from the club. @NatYoannidis #9News pic.twitter.com/99uk1LD3nJ

Shiel was one of three inclusions for Scott's side, with forward Matt Guelfi and defender Jayden Laverde both returning from injury. The trio of inclusions saw Alwyn Davey Jnrย (omitted), Kaine Baldwinย (omitted)ย andย Andrew Phillipsย (managed) removed from Essendon's lineup.
If Shiel is withdrawn from the team prior to the opening bounce, Scott will have Davey, Baldwin, Massimo D'Ambrosio or Nick Bryan on standby, with another emergency to be named as the tactical sub.
It is understood Scott also missed the team's flight over to Western Australia due to illness, however has taken a separate flight and will be present in the coaches box at Optus Stadium.
The Bombers and Eagles will clash at 7:40pm (AEST) on Saturday night as Essendon look to chalk up their sixth win and move into the top eight.
