With Melbourne's 16-point loss to Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday, it leaves the door open for the West Coast Eagles to knock the Demons out of the eight by beating Adelaide at Domain Stadium on Sunday.

Had Melbourne won, their spot in the finals would have been locked up, but it's now up to the Eagles to decide the Demons' fate.

Providing Essendon beat Fremantle on Sunday (and they are short priced favourites to do so), the eighth spot on the ladder will belong to either Melbourne or West Coast.

Thanks to AAP journalist Luke Costin, the following graph shows just how many points the Eagles need to win by tomorrow depending on what Adelaide score.

So, as seen above, it looks as though if the Eagles can win by over 20 points, they should find themselves back in the finals.
