Free agent Adam Tomlinson has signed a four-year deal with the Demons.

The 26-year old departs GWS after eight seasons to return to his native Victoria.

He is coming off a consistent campaign for the Giants, averaging 17 disposals from 25 games.

The utility was originally picked up by the Giants with Pick No.9 in the 2011 National Draft and his 140 games ranks fifth all time at the club.

“We’re very excited to add Adam to our list as a free agent – he fills a very important need for our team,”  Melbourne general manager of football operations Josh Mahoney told melbournefc.com.au.

“He’s played a number of different roles for the Giants, but predominantly what we’re looking for is someone who can run up and down the MCG on the wing.

“Adam is an elite runner and at 194cm, he has the versatility to provide us with a number of options, either forward or back.

“With 140 games experience, including the last four finals series, Adam complements the age and games profile of our list and we think he can have an immediate impact.”

GWS will receive a end of second round pick as compensation, currently No.40.
