Geelong midfielder, Sam Menegola says he will not ever truly safe in the senior side given what he has gone through to get his chance at AFL level.
Menegola, 25, has played 10 games this season, for a career total of 18, after he was picked up as a mature aged recruit with pick No.66 in the 2015 National Draft.
He had previously spent time on both Hawthorn and Fremantle's rookie lists, before being given a third chance at the top level by the Cats.
Menegola is averaging 22.4 disposals per game this year and was recently rewarded with a three-year contract extension.
However, speaking on RSN radio on Monday morning, he says he will always feel on edge and never feel as though he has "made it", due to the several setbacks he has faced throughout his career.
"With some of the curve balls AFL has thrown me, it just keeps you on your toes," Menegola said.
"Even at the start of this year, I was out of the side in round one and two off a really good pre-season. I had a couple of weeks where I wasn't that great. I probably wasn't doing a lot wrong, but just because our list is so strong, I wasn't in the side.
"Bits and pieces like that constantly remind you that the AFL's pretty hard. I feel like my footy stacks up and it belongs at the level but I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable.
"I certainly don't feel like I made it. I'm not sure I ever will."
Menegola made his debut in Round 18 last season, before playing every game for the remainder of the year, including the qualifying and preliminary finals.
