Melbourne will add a Saturday morning running session to their pre-season plans, as conditioning coach Darren Burgess looks to make the Demons a fitter side in 2020.
Following a disappointing season in 2019 which saw them finish in 17th after a preliminary final appearance the year before, Melbourne will now have Thursdays off and train on Saturdays, under Burgess' guidance.
The move is set to help the Demons be able to run out games better, with Burgess saying the extra running session would "benefit them in the fourth quarter of games and the tough games coming up".
According to The Age, Burgess had Port Adelaide players believing they had the tank to outrun their opponents in the fourth quarter of games when he was at the South Australian club, and the hope is he gets the same results at Melbourne.
Melbourne returns to pre-season training much healthier than they did last season, with only Jake Lever, Braydon Preuss and Sam Weidemann having off-season surgery.
