Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has downplayed reports Dayne Beams has asked for a trade to Collingwood.

Reports emerged this morning on NAB AFL Trade Radio Beams had requested a trade back to the Magpies, a statement Fagan refuted.

“He [Beams] has not requested a trade,” Fagan told SEN Afternoons.

“There’s been nothing come through to our club. We’ll be surprised.

“I had a conversation with Dayne post-season during our normal exit interviews with our players, he was bright and bubbly about the future of our footy club and looking forward to continuing with us.

“I’ve seen Dayne several times since, the most recent at the weekend in Horsham.

“He has not mentioned that to me. That news is a complete surprise.

In a speech at last month's Brisbane Lions Best and Fairest night, Beans pledged his loyalty to the club, despite admitting he had thought about returning to Victoria.

"I’ll be honest with you I’ve thought about going back to Melbourne and obviously those discussions happened," Beams said at the Lions Best and Fairest night.

“The one thing I kept coming back to was this group and you blokes and I bloody love youse.

“That was a real driving factor in me wanting to stay here and stick around and I love where we’re going and I love you boys.”
