Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has downplayed reports Dayne Beams has asked for a trade to Collingwood.

Reports emerged this morning on NAB AFL Trade Radio Beams had requested a trade back to the Magpies, a statement Fagan refuted.

โ€œHe [Beams] has not requested a trade,โ€ Fagan toldย SEN Afternoons.

โ€œThereโ€™s been nothing come through to our club. Weโ€™ll be surprised.

โ€œI had a conversation with Dayne post-season during our normal exit interviews with our players, he was bright and bubbly about the future of our footy club and looking forward to continuing with us.

โ€œIโ€™ve seen Dayne several times since, the most recent at the weekend in Horsham.

โ€œHe has not mentioned that to me. That news is a complete surprise.

In a speech at last month's Brisbane Lions Best and Fairest night, Beans pledged his loyalty to the club, despite admitting he had thought about returning to Victoria.

"Iโ€™ll be honest with you Iโ€™ve thought about going back to Melbourne and obviously those discussions happened," Beams said at the Lions Best and Fairest night.

โ€œThe one thing I kept coming back to was this group and you blokes and I bloody love youse.

โ€œThat was a real driving factor in me wanting to stay here and stick around and I love where weโ€™re going and I love you boys.โ€
