Despite being touted to join Adelaide as the club's new football boss, Richmond senior club advisor Neil Balme has put a line through reports suggesting he has joined the South Australian club.

Said reports emerge last week as Balme and the Crows were understood to have held discussions over a potential career switch for the highly-rated Tigers administrator.

In a statement released on Monday, Balme pledged his loyalty to the yellow and black, dismissing any rumour of his departure from Richmond.

"I appreciate [the] Adelaide Football Club reaching out for a conversation, but Richmond is where my heart is and I look forward to continuing to help strengthen the club into the future," the statement reads.

Balme first joined the Tigers at the conclusion of the 2016 season and has since been a pivotal member in the club's recent successes.

The 69-year-old has also played key roles with Collingwood and Geelong across the last 23 years as a pillar in the AFL industry.

It had been reported toward the end of last year that a number of rival clubs had shown interest in Balme's services, with the Crows among the interested suitors.

It is understood that Adelaide's interest in Balme comes as the club looks to add experience to their hierarchy and subsequently aiding the development of young senior coach Matthew Nicks and head of football Adam Kelly.
