Collingwood and Gold Coast are understood to be in discussions in regards to swapping draft selections that will include picks for the 2021 and 2022 drafts.

As first reported by Fox Sports' Tom Morris, a potential trade will see the Magpies bolster their draft hand for this year's count as they look to acquire highly-rated father-son prospect Nick Daicos.

Further reports from AFL.com.au suggest the Magpies will part with future second and third round selections in exchange for Gold Coast's picks of 22, 46 and 58.

The Magpies are aiming to expand their draft selections and raise their points tally in order to land Daicos, who will likely fall among the top three selections of the 2021 National Draft.

Should North Melbourne bid for Daicos at the top of the draft, the Magpies will need to place 2400 points to draft the teenager, or will be placed at a deficit and face setbacks to their future draft hands.

The Suns will gain selections for next year's draft as they currently hold seven picks for the 2021 Draft, while Collingwood are needing to boost their current tally of 1707 points.

The Magpies are also set to move for Western Bulldogs youngster Patrick Lipinski, who has requested a trade to the Holden Centre, and Geelong tall Nathan Kreuger.

The pair are unlikely to demand multiple selections in return at the trade table, with one of the Magpies' hopeful recruits potentially heading to the Pre-Season Draft should negotiations fail to transpire on course.

Collingwood currently hold picks 36, 39, 41, 45 for the 2021 National Draft after trading their first-round selection to Greater Western Sydney last year.

The Suns have carried selections 3, 19, 22, 43, 55, 58, 66 into the Trade Period, which commenced on Monday morning.
