Geelong were able to collect wins over Collingwood and Brisbane on their path to the season decider this September, while Sydney defeated the Demons and Magpies to match the Cats on the big stage.

Saturday's preliminary final win over Collingwood sees the Swans return to a grand final for the first time since 2016, while Geelong return after last featuring in 2020.

The Swans got the better of Geelong earlier this season, claiming a 30-point win in Round 2 - a match where veteran forward Lance Franklin brought up the 1000th goal of his career.

Their last finals clash came in a 2017 semi-final, with Geelong winning that match at the MCG by 39 points.
