Carlton’s Chris Yarran has officially requested a trade from the Blues.

Yarran, who did not attend Carlton’s Best and Fairest count on Thursday night, is expected to join Richmond in the upcoming trade period.

New coach Brendon Bolton said that the Blues hope to receive a first round draft pick in exchange for Yarran.

“With Chris, he is a contracted player and an A-grade player when up and about,” Bolton told SEN.

“We love the footy he plays when he’s running off half-back, but if he doesn’t want to play, we will have to have a discussion about what the return is.

β€œYou’d hope so (he’d warrant a first-round pick).”

  1. It’s not a bad thing. Carlton will get a good deal from the trade and rebuild. They’re not going anywhere for the next few years and he won’t be a part of their future. Even take a draft pick in next years draft for him and hope that club finishes low enough to get a good pick.

  2. He’s quoted as saying he feels he needs a fresh start. Watching him most of this season you could tell from his body language he didnt want to play in the Navy Blue. I love Yarran when hes running off the back line and in peak fit form. I, for one will be sad to see him go but that being said he’s played with no heart this season and as we are a long way off from playing finals again I think he just wants to go somewhere where that may happen for him. The last of the 3 Amigos to leave..
