Essendon will unveil John Worsfold as the club's new coach at a press conference at 11am today.
Worsfold will be appointed coach of the Bombers for the next three years.
The contract is understood to have an option for a fourth year as well as performance-related bonuses.
The club informed the unsuccessful candidates of its decision last night.
