  1. If u get the ball in the right area at the right time of the game u are going to get a few calls go your way. Maybe that’s what the other teams can try and copy of the hawks, it mast be the reason they have won the last 3 flags.

    • I’m no expert mathematician but these stats don’t count because Bulldogs, bombers, and swans probably deserved their free kicks. “The most free kicks” means nothing mate. Memes remain valid!
      πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜€πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

  2. It’s not the free kicks against hawthorn or with them, it’s the ones that the other team doesn’t get when they vs hawthorn, umpires letting hawthorn do as they wish, if they get tackled for dropping the ball ( which they always do) the umpires say “play on”

  3. It’s not the number of free kicks Hawthorn get. It’s the nature of them and when. They have been getting dubious free kicks at crucial stages of a game, making the win easier for them. They should of and would of lost the last 3 weeks without the umpires on their sideπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

  4. Its not about the most it is where on the ground and the stages of the game they have recieved them not to mention the ones that dont get paid to the opposition at the same point during games these free kicks have resulted in different outcomes of the last three matches

    • If it was another team u guys would really care u guys are jealous hawthorn success and the reason why u guys are saying it is cause hawthorn are just getting over the line u guys are thinking it’s free kicks if u guys watch closely the other teams get free kicks at the same time

  5. Neale shocking turn over on Sunday Carlton goal Taberner trys to mark when ball going through for a goal spills it a point Carlton win through two shocking mistakes players cost their sides not just umpires

    • Jamie Mcginley. Not concerned with the number of frees, just the ones at critical times and the ones that are wrong or have a different interpretation applied from other already given in the game. The one at the end of the game where I think Isaac missed punching the ball that was tucked under him arm and then got tackled. Worst non decision this year and I hate Adelaide!

  6. These stats still don’t mean a thing. Where and when you get them matter.
Play a team a free and then call play on to advantage. Take those out of the equation too.
If you give a team two frees at the end of the quarter in the back lines when they already have control really is not a game changer is it?

    • Wow! I wouldn’t have picked that! Although its not always about the number of free kicks but where they’re paid and at what point in the game
Our free kicks aren’t winning games for us like hawthorn

    • Megg Ryan actually you are not quite correct. Against the Bulldogs it was a very dubious free kick and goal to THEM that almost lost us that game. Against StKilda there was an incorrect 15 metre call by the umpire which we goaled from during the last quarter however StKilda had a mark and shot at goal in the final 2 minutes that they MISSED. Against Adelaide we got a free kick for a push in the back late in the game that was obvious and would get paid every day of the week. The so called “holding the ball” call against Smith was bullshit as there was no prior and the league have since come and and had to confirm it was the correct call not to pay the free. Adelaide choked, pure and simple. They did it round 1 against North and they did it again last Friday night.

  8. Not many Hawks supporters will agree .
But the umpiring in a number off games has been mediocre . Play it one way not the other , have been getting influenced by the home side crowd , some 15 mtr kicks and deliberate out have been a bit harsh .

I like the rules but sometimes these bad calls cost games .

  9. Think its funny this free kick thing, I can recall a certain player when he wore brown and gold would get little to no free kicks once his jumper changed to red and white he got free kicks when opposition looked at him the wrong way. For years HFC didn’t get free kicks when they were warranted but they still got job done

  10. It’s not about the amount of frees awarded…it’s the importance of when they’re given/not given that make Hawthorn the umpire’s favourite team! Quality over quantity is exactly how Hawthorn are benefitting.

    • We go hard at the ball, and as such, get what we earn.. unlike against Carlton recently where their players positioning was so poor that we were guaranteed a free each time the ball was contested basically bahaha

Lukey Dahlhaus racks up most of those free for himself too.. bloody gun, always goes hard at the ball, always on the bottom of a pack.

  11. Stop blaming the umpires! It makes you look like a salty prick when you blame the umps. Of course they won’t always get it right, but they bloody well try.

  12. It annoys me when people try to compare free kicks during a game….. They talk like the free kicks should be awarded evenly by the end of the match. Obviously if a team is getting more frees they are playing more within the rules than the other side. If your good enough you don’t need to complain about things you can’t control such as the weather and umpiring decisions…..

  13. Big difference between receiving a free kick in the backline vs receiving a free kick in the forward line, which Hawthorn just coincidently happen to be when they are awarded their free kicks.

  14. What a shock , St Kilda is on the bottom for the number of free kicks and most in the back half of the field , be nice if we could get a kick in the forward pocket!! Free kick Hawthorn

  15. Luke Macauley its offical. The Bulldogs, bombers and swans must be as big of cheats as hawthorn are. All those teams have received as much or more free kicks as hawthorn.

  16. It’s not about the free kick count!!! It’s about the contentious ones paid!! Not just to Hawks!! Umpires need to stop trying to even up the ledger after half time!!

  17. That’s bs I just went through Essendons stats and they have had a total of 107 free’s this season wouldn’t surprise me if other teams are wrong also. I got my stats off the official game day stats from the afl.
