Weller suspended for one week

St. Kilda’s Maverick Weller has been offered a one match ban, while all other incidents were cleared, in a quiet week for the Match Review Panel.

Weller was charged with striking Rohan Bewick in the last quarter of St.Kilda’s win over the Lions. The incident was viewed as intentional conduct, with low impact to the head. It was classified as a two match suspension, but an early guilty plea will reduce the ban to one week.

The contact between Essendon’s Jake Carlisle and Richmond’s Trent Cotchin was the only other matter assessed. Cotchin left Carlisle winded after an “open hand to the chest area” and it was not deemed a reportable offence.
