Gold Coast forward Brandon Matera is reportedly being hunted by several Victorian clubs.

The Herald Sun has reported that Carlton, Essendon and Richmond are keeping a close on eye on the 24-year-old, who is on the outer at the Suns.

Matera has kicked 81 goals in 76 career games withe the Suns, but has only managed two games so far this season, after twice being dropped to the NEAFL.

He played 19 games last season and was suspended for a week by the club for breaching the team’s no-alcohol agreement during the middle of the season.

Matera was selected by the Suns as one of the club’s 17-year-old pre-draft priority selections in 2010.

He is the son of former Fitzroy and West Coast player Wally Matera and the nephew of former West Coast stars Phil and Peter Matera.

  1. Good to see it’s only the lower clubs are looking at him. Not interested in body contact, lack of defense and poor decision making are his faults. The Suns would be far better off without him as the young guys just recruited have flown past him for selection.

  2. You would think Essendon are morals to land him given the worsfold/mckenna/west coast link…i think they need a tall forward though not a small…
