Demons to launch bid for Essendon star Joe Daniher, per report

Would this be a good fit? 🤔

Melbourne are expected to make a play for Essendon star Joe Daniher, according to a report by The Herald Sun.

The Demons' forward line has been dysfunctional in the early rounds of this season, with their main target Tom McDonald booting just four goals from as many games.

Melbourne's lack of firepower in attack is exasperated by the fact that they traded Pick No. 6 to Gold Coast in 2018 for key defender Steven May, a pick the Suns used to draft rising star Ben King.

King is equal second in the Coleman Medal race this season with 10 majors.

Two of the Demons' other key forwards, Sam Weideman and Mitch Brown, are currently in the seconds.

Their forward line struggles will reportedly prompt the club to make enquiries about Daniher and see if he would be keen to make the move across town at season's end.

Daniher hasn't played since Round 9 last year after being hampered by ongoing groin issues.

He sensationally requested a trade to the Sydney Swans in the off-season but was denied the move by Essendon.

Daniher enters free agency at the end of the season, meaning Melbourne could land him for nothing.
