Tigers premiership duo Shane Edwards and David Astbury are set to return to face Adelaide this weekend.

The pair have both experienced extended time on the sideline this season, with Edwards deciding not to join his side's hub back in July for family reasons and Astbury battling a knee injury since June.

Edwards has rejoined his teammates in recent days following his quarantine period in Queensland, while Astbury participated in last weeks scrimmage game.

The Tigers will need to be at their best against an in-form Adelaide side if they wish to ensure a top-four finish. The premiership pair are expected to line-up to face the Crows this weekend.

"Shane Edwards trained strongly today and Dave Astbury trained strongly, and Dion Prestia joined in some training as well," Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said on Thursday.

"The first two have put their hands up to play, Dion's probably [aiming for] the first week of finals, but it was a really strong session from all those guys and we've got some players who are coming back which is really important for us."

Prestia may rejoin the side in the first week of their finals if the midfielder can get through a practice match next week.

The Tigers are building towards a full-strength side heading into the first week of the finals series, but will be without Shai Bolton and Tom Lynch for their game against the Crows.

Bolton has a corked calf while Lynch is nursing a hamstring injury, however, the Tigers are hopeful both players will be fit for week one of the finals.

"Our guys have been really positive with Tom. His scan came back on the minor side and he's running now and doing some strength training," the two-time premiership coach said.

"It's our understanding he'll be available for the first week of the finals at this stage which is a positive, but what we will say though is he's really important to us, so we'll make sure he's right to go. You get one chance at getting it right, so we won't rush it."

Mabior Chol will return for the Tigers as they contemplate how to recover from the loss of losing Ivan Soldo. The ruckman went down last week with a ruptured ACL and medial ligament last weekend.

Ben Miller, who was picked at 63 by the Tigers in the 2017 AFL national draft has been raised as a potential debutant by coach Hardwick, while premiership Tigers Josh Caddy and Nathan Broad could also come in.
