Richmond star Dustin Martin has put contract negotiations with the club on hold until the end of the season.

Martin's manager, Ralph Carr, has told the Tigers that his star client, who is out of contract at the end of this year, wants to wait before entering in talks for a new contract, according to the Herald Sun.

Carr is expected to meet with Richmond on Tuesday to discuss the matter further.

Martin, who won the club's best and fairest in 2016, has played 153 games for Richmond since being selected with pick No.3 in the 2009 National Draft.

The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent, meaning the Tigers can match an offer him at the end of the year.
