Richmond midfielder Reece Conca is likely to miss the first two months of the season after it was revealed his hamstring injury was worse than first thought.

Conca, who suffered the injury during last Thursday night’s NAB Challenge clash against Port Adelaide, has now been ruled out for up to 10 weeks by Tigers medical staff.

Richmond was initially optimistic that the 23-year-old has suffered a standard hamstring injury but later stretched his recovery time to eight weeks.

On Wednesday, physical performance manager Peter Burge said scans had revealed the tendon damage on his right leg had occurred high up, which typically leads to an even longer recovery.
