When Zero Digital Sports was first founded in December of 2014, it was probably not in anyone's wildest imagination that we'd still be sitting here a decade later with millions of Australians consuming our content every month.

Dating back to the end of 2014 - a period which fell right in the middle of Essendon's supplements saga, and just months after Hawthorn collected their second of three straight premierships - much has happened in the football world.

From legends and teams etching their names into the history books, to scandals, tragedies, and shocks, the past 10 years alone have been filled with memorable and infamous moments - both on and off the field.

So, without further ado, here are 10 of the biggest stories since the inception of Zero Digital Sports in December 2014.

1. Essendon's supplements saga reaches new lows

Investigations, findings and sanctions from the inquiry into Essendon's supplements plan came before the end of 2014, but arguably, the worst was yet to come for the Bombers faithful.

The club itself had already been heavily penalised by ASADA (now known as Sport Integrity Australia) in 2013, but over the next three years, 34 players listed with the Bomber in 2012 faced lengthy suspensions and would miss the entirety of the 2016 campaign.

The bans came after an initial non-guilty verdict, which was appealed by WADA in January 2016 and resulted in two-year suspensions, which were backdated.

On top of the season-long suspension for coach James Hird, a $2 million fine for the club, draft bans and other sanctions, the 34 bans saw Essendon require a squad of top-up players for the 2016 season.

Essendon managed just three wins for the year without a large portion of their best players, finishing last in the league.
