Colin Sylvia is set to retire from AFL Football effective immediately after agreeing to part ways with the Fremantle Dockers.

Sylvia has managed only six games for the Dockers, struggling with form and fitness after moving across from Melbourne at the end of the 2013 season.

Football operations manager Chris Bond said that Colin and the club had agreed that it was in Sylvia’s best interests to retire from AFL.

“Colin has been working through a number of issues, including whether he was able to achieve and sustain the physical requirements needed to train and play at the elite level.”

“It is never an easy decision but, after discussions between Colin, his management and the club, it was agreed that his long-term interests would be best served by retiring from the AFL,” Bond said.
