Sydney Swans

The Sydney Swans have unveiled Damian Truslove as their new VFL coach for the 2023 season.

Truslove has already begun his tenure with the Swans' reserves in recent weeks, however the club formally revealed his appointment on Friday.

He brings with him over 15 years of experience at the professional level, having worked with Carlton, Richmond and most recently GWS.

Truslove replaces the departed Jeremy Laidler, who ventured to the Giants this off-season after five years with the Swans.

Sydney managed a fourth-placed finish in their first full season in the VFL this year, with Truslove looking to build on a promising campaign.

"It's been really exciting to join the Swans. All the staff and players have been very welcoming," Trsulove told sydneyswans.com.au.

"They are all very genuine and it's helped me really enjoy my time. I feel like I've been here for a couple of years because everyone has made me feel so welcome.

"The players are so driven so it's a really exciting time to be part of the club."

The Swans recorded 13 wins from their 18 home and away matches in the VFL this year, booking themselves a second chance game in the finals.

They'd eventually fall to the Gold Coast Suns in a semi-final, ending a strong season for the Bloods in the second-tier competition.

The AFL confirmed earlier this week that the 2023 VFL season will commence in the weekend of March 25-26 next year.
