Suspended Port Adelaide forward Angus Monfries will continue his career at the club next year.

While Monfries’ return is not expected to be confirmed until after the Power’s season is over and the terms of his new contract are yet to be finalised, it is understood the club has committed to taking him back in 2017.

Monfries is also believed to be keen to play on for at least one more year, and has had positive discussions with coach Ken Hinkley throughout his suspension.

The 29-year-old, one of the 34 current and former Essendon players banned for 12 months at the start of the year by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, will be out of contract at the end of the season.
