The pictures, which have rocked the club and the AFL, were obtained and published exclusively by the Herlad Sun last night.
Bennell was one of the 12 players named by Karmichael Hunt in his statement to Queensland Police as having used cocaine.
The Herald Sun revealed that the photos were taken after the Suns youngster spent a long night drinking in Tasmania in March 2013, just nine days prior to the commencement of the season.
It is believed that Bennell also went to a strip club in Launceston, before heading back to a hotel room with an entourage of men and women. Witnesses have alleged that Bennell snorted some of the substance, believed to be speed, before sharing it with the others in the room.
A Gold Coast Suns spokeman said this morning that the 22-year-old’s health and well being is the club’s main focus.
“Our priority throughout the morning is the genuine concern for Harley and his welfare,” he said.
“We can’t underestimate the toll this could have and has had on his well being. That remains our absolute focus at this time.”
Bennell was taken with the No. 2 pick in the 2010 National Draft.
