The Gold Coast Suns have suspended utility Danny Stanley for breaking the club’s alcohol ban.

Stanley is fourth Suns player to be suspended for drinking alcohol, with Harley Bennel, Brandon Matera and Trent McKenzie all receiving suspensions from the club earlier this week.

Stanley was not part of the team meeting on the weekend where senior players were told to refrain from drinking alcohol. However, the Suns have a club rule that no player is to consume alcohol within a six day period of the next match.

Stanley’s drink on Sunday fell in that period of time, with senior team members deciding this morning that he too should be suspended.

Stanley’s suspension adds further woes at the selection table for the Suns, with coach Rodney Eade now only having a total of 24 players to pick from for this week’s clash with the Crows due to a terrible run of injuries, four club imposed suspensions and the three week suspension of Steven May.
