Channel Ten and Triple M sports journalist Mark Howard recently received a personal text message from Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell, only it was not meant for him, the Herald Sun has revealed.

Howard is a mad Hawthorn fan and was naturally over the moon when he received a message from Mitchell asking if 'Howie' wanted to catch up for a kick of the footy at Elsternwick Park, despite the fact that Howard lives in Barwon Heads.

“For a second I thought here is a four-time premiership player wanting to go for a kick down at Elsternwick Park with me,” Howard said.

However, after several text messages, it was revealed that Mitchell had in fact intended to send the message to his teammate Daniel Howe and not Mark Howard.
