Rival clubs are reportedly "weighing up whether to make a move" for contracted Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver this off-season.
Oliver is signed to the Demons until the end of the 2030 season after re-signing with Melbourne on a lucrative long-term deal.
The superstar onballer missed a large portion of this season mainly due to a hamstring issue, leading to a frustrating year for the four-time best and fairest winner.
The Demons were able to hold onto a top four finish in the absence of the two-time AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, whose value would be substantially high across the industry.
Despite the likely high asking price Melbourne would place on Oliver in the case they were open to moving him on, rival clubs are said to be mulling over whether a trade for Oliver could be on the cards over the coming weeks.
Speaking onย Trade Radioย on Tuesday,ย AFL.com.au'sย Riley Beveridge and Cal Twomey revealed Oliver is gaining some level of interest from rivals despite his contract status.
"Clubs are weighing up whether to make a move for Melbourne superstar Clayton Oliver in this year's trade period," Beveridge said.

"Oliver has a massive seven-year contract that he signed in the middle of last year that he signed that takes him through to the end of 2030.
"He had a very challenging year, he only played 15 games and missed 10 weeks through the middle of the campaign with a hamstring injury but also that blister on his foot that became infected."
Twomey said the pair's report comes from the view of the potentially interested rival clubs, who have not been named, with Melbourne showing no signs of being open to moving on their star ball-winner.
"Rival clubs are considering the cost of a trade attempt for Oliver," Twomey added.
"A four-time best and fairest winner with the Demons. It is unclear if he would be open to any move.
"There's been no indication that Melbourne would be willing to part with him either.
"This is from the view of rival clubs, getting their things in order to see if a play for him is something they want to proceed with. That's going to be one to watch over the next couple of weeks."
The 2023 trade period will open on Monday and will run until Wednesday, October 18.
