Contracted Collingwood ruckman Darcy Cameron has reportedly garnered interest from the West Coast Eagles while having a contract with the Magpies through to the end of next year.
Cameron, who hails from Western Australia, last re-signed with Collingwood in March 2024 on a two-year extension off the back of a premiership-winning campaign in the black and white.
The 29-year-old North Albany product would go on to enjoy a career-best campaign last year, earning his maiden spot in the All-Australian squad after averaging 15.61 disposals, 4.61 marks and 29.26 hitouts per game across his 23 appearances as Craig McRae's first-string ruckman.
Said to be "in the ruck market" this year, West Coast have emerged as a keen suitor for Cameron despite his contract status, withย AFL.com.au'sย Cal Twomey revealing the Eagles have shown an interest in the former Sydney tall.
Cameron, who was drafted by the Swans out of Claremont, is reportedly weighing up the thought of finishing his career in WA.
Twomey has also revealed Cameron has opened discussions with the Magpies over a potential new deal beyond 2026.
"West Coast is a watch with interest in Darcy Cameron, who has considered finishing his career back in WA," Twomey posted onย Xย on Tuesday.
"The Collingwood ruckman has a year to run on his deal and has had talks on an extension at the Pies but nothing expected imminently.
"Eagles tipped to be in the ruck market."
West Coast's interest in Cameron comes as the club looks to settle on its ruck structure for the 2025 season, with former Giant Matt Flynn a likely starting option who will find assistance from Jack Williams and Bailey Williams.
The latter held the leading ruck role before Flynn joined at the end of 2023, while initially being developed as a forward.
Injuries and form kept Flynn to four matches in his maiden season in Perth, leaving Williams to take on most of the workload again with a 23-game campaign.
The Eagles also have South Australian Harry Barnett waiting in the wings, with the 203cm youngster having one career game to his name heading into his third year with West Coast.
