Tigers confirm they tried to lure Hannebery to Punt Road before he signed a long term deal with Sydney.
Richmond football manager Dan Richardson has told 3AW that the Tigers were interested in signing Hannebery prior to the midfielder signing a five year deal with the Swans.
“We had some interest in Dan for sure — he’s an excellent player, ” he told 3AW.
“We know he’s a loyal person and we knew he was pretty happy up at the Swans.
“We didn’t quite get to that (contract offer) point.
“There was enough discussion with his management to have an awareness of what his thought processes were.
“He knew we were well and truly interested in him but we didn’t really get too far down a path with any real meaningful discussions,” Richardson said.
