Injured Essendon forward Joe Daniher was in Sydney last week, and reportedly met with Swans CEO Tom Harley for lunch.

According to The Age's Sam McClure, Daniher and Harley met up for lunch last week, as speculation mounts regarding Daniher's future.

The 25-year-old has played just 11 AFL games since the start of the 2018 season, with murmurs suggesting he could be looking for a way out of the Melbourne "fish bowl", while the Swans could be on the search for a long-term replacement for ageing key forward Lance Franklin.

Essendon was aware of the meeting, with the Bombers suggesting it was just a meeting between two friends, with Harley set to be a long-time mentor of Daniher's.

The Age believes Daniher was in Sydney for a meeting with his surgeon, after the forward underwent a groin operation earlier this year.
