Fox Sports' Chief AFL reporter Jake Niall has reported the Bombers are the latest club to join the race for Richmond superstar Dustin Martin.

Niall reported on AFL Tonight that Essendon are keen on Martin's services, but said they are still yet to place a bid for the 25-year-old.

The Bombers know a deal to lure Martin away from Tigerland would cost them in excess of $1 million a year, and are reportedly weighing up his worth before moving forward, although Niall did confirm they were an interested party.

The news comes on the back of North Melbourne's bid for Martin, which would also see the Tiger earn over $1 million a season.

Essendon may not be without their own contract dilemmas in the near future, with young gun key forward Joe Daniher out of contract at the end of next season.

Daniher could well command close to seven figures with the salary cap jump in 2018, so the Bombers may need to factor that into their plans for Martin.
