Sydney Swans defender Dane Rampe has been further rewarded for his persistence and consistency after signing a significant contract extension with the club.

The 24-year-old has inked a deal that will see him remain with the Swans until the end of the 2019 season.

The Sydney local played in the VFL with Williamstown for three seasons, and twice completed a pre-season with the Western Bulldogs, but after continually being overlooked on draft day, Rampe returned home in 2012.

At 22, Rampe won the Phelan Medal for the best player in the Sydney AFL competition and was invited down to the Swans, where he impressed, and was eventually taken with the 37th pick in the 2013 NAB AFL rookie draft.
