West Coast premiership hero Adam Hunter has passed away at the age of 43.

Hunter played 151 games for the Eagles, including in the two famous grand finals in 2005 and 2006, with the latter a memorable day for the Western Australian club.

Taken with Pick 29 in the 1999 National Draft, the South Bunbury product was deployed across multiple positions for West Coast, playing as a swingman under coach John Worsfold.

A durable player, Hunter didn't miss a game following the premiership victory, but then faced debilitating knee and shoulder injuries that derailed seasons 2008 and 2009, ultimately leading to his retirement.

He then continued his footballing career at South Bunbury in the SWFL in 2010 and played for Swan Districts in the WAFL the following year.

Current Head of Football and 2006 premiership coach John Worsfold paid tribute to Hunter.

"I was lucky enough to coach โ€˜Hunts' for a long time and he was just one of those players who put in 100 per cent everything he did at the Club," Worsfold said.

"All he wanted to do was play footy with his mates and share success with them.

"I know a lot of his teammates are reflecting on what he brought to them as a group and as footballers.

"Out of all my time in footy, which is a long time now, he's probably the player that loved the game more than any player I've seen.

"I understand that he went to footy training last night and had a kick for South Bunbury, because that's just what he does.

"It makes me smile inside to know that one of the last things he did was he went to footy training, and he would've loved it I can guarantee that."

The devastating news follows the pair of lives lost earlier in the week, with Troy Selwood and Dale Tapping also passing away.
