Port Adelaide assistant coach Michael Voss says that Robbie Gray should be fit to return this week to tackle the Crows in Showdown XXXVIII.

Gray injured his calf in round three’s win over North Melbourne, forcing him to miss the Power’s win over Hawthorn.

Voss said the club is confident Gray will play, but he must still prove his fitness before being named.

“He’s pretty confident but it’s still a bit ‘wait and see’,” Voss said.

The former Brisbane premiership star also stressed that despite the importance of Gray’s inclusion, the match was bigger than just one player.

“Clearly he’s a very important player to us and a very valued player so we’d certainly take him if he’s available, but we’ve also got to go in with a mindset that he isn’t going to be the difference.

“Games of footy aren’t won just on individual brilliance – you have moments of that throughout the game and that’s the cream on top, but it can’t do the job for you.”

Port Adelaide take on Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.
