Perth's new 60,000 seat stadium, which is due to be completed in time for the beginning of the 2018 AFL season, will feature seats that are "durable for the unique Western Australian climate", WA sports minister Mia Davies has revealed.
The stadium will feature very generous seating of 50cm wide, with cup holders at the back of each seat.
“The seat colour and design had to be durable for the unique Western Australian climate, be visually appealing (and) comfortable,” Davies said.
“Seat comfort is an important factor and feedback from the Sports Fans User Group was hugely valuable during the design selection process.

“The seats are 50 centimetres wide with rubber cup-holders that will be located on the back of every seat, adding to the ‘fans first’ experience.
“To put their size into context, one new seat at Perth Stadium is about as wide as two bench seats at Domain Stadium, so fans will notice a significant difference when they come to watch a football game or cricket match in 2018.”
Construction is currently over 40% complete.

Am I the only one completely dumbfounded by the seat colours in Perth Stadium? Maybe it will look better in person, but cream, tan and brown?

Seats at Perth Stadium will be 50cm wide & after measuring chairs in @abcsouthwestwa office (avg 48cm) we've decided that's quite generous.
